our values

Values shape behaviour. Values give us a framework for the way we live and give purpose to our activities. At Parramatta Christian Church our values are shaped by the God we believe in, and what the Bible says. These values are an indication of who we are but more importantly, what we aspire to be with the help of God's grace.

1. God is our priority (Matthew 22:37)

We value relationship with God, a lifestyle of worship, personal devotion, God-honouring living as outlined in the Bible, and a deep commitment to the cause of Christ. We see the importance of honouring God with our thoughts, words, actions, time and resources.

2. Commitment to the Bible (Psalm 1)

We value the Bible as it is God's message to humanity, and opens our understanding to God's character and His pattern for us to live by. We see the importance of personal study and the public preaching of God's Word.

3. Lifestyle of prayer (I Thess 5:17, James 5:17)

We value prayer not just as an activity but as a lifestyle. We see the importance of personal and corporate prayer, and know that the believing prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective.

4. Open to the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5, Acts 11:16, Hebrews 2:4)

We value the presence and power of the Holy Spirit - through regeneration, the baptism of the Spirit, and the gifts of the Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is as real and powerful as He was in the book of Acts.

5. Building one another together (Hebrews 10:26)

We value others and feel our focus is not meant to be on ourselves but on others. In our meeting times - no matter when, no matter what size - we see the importance of fellowship with others as it encourages and provokes holy living and doing good works. We also know the value in teaching and training one another in the ways of Christ.

6. Reaching the lost (Matthew 28:19-20)

We value the words of Jesus to "make disciples of all nations". We see in Parramatta, our local area, a vast and diverse mission field. We have a desire to reach out to our community and provide whatever help we can, especially in delivering the good news of Christ. We also see this as a mandate to reach not just the local area but to help the cause of spreading the good news of Jesus across the world - through prayer support, financial support or by going ourselves.
